Uganda darters have set a target to win the Tanzania Open Darts Tournament, scheduled for next month in Arusha.

According to Prisons Darts Club skipper Andrew Emomeri, now is the time to bring home an international trophy.

“We have won several local trophies, but this year we are looking at international trophies starting with the Tanzania Open tournament trophy,” Emomeri said.

He added that last year did not go on well because they lost the league trophy to Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), but they will also be out to fight for it this season.

“We must reclaim our trophy from UWA, but the struggle starts with the Tanzania Open next month. My team is training and we are in good shape,” Emomeri added.

Meanwhile female darter Sarah Makanga of Bank of Uganda is targeting the individual’s gold medal in the female category.

Makanga, started off the season with victory in the New’ Year’s Darts Tournament held in January at Mamerito Hotel in Bweyogerere.

“I’m only waiting for confirmation of dates but I’m ready for any challenge,” Makanga said.
