Nkumba v IUIU

Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) women soccer team captain Aisha Namubiru is confident her side is capable of upsetting Nkumba university when the two sides meet on Friday March 29,2019 in the opening round of the Varsity Women Soccer League.

At the Launch of the League in Mengo on Thursday March 28, Namubiru said that her team is prepared for any challenge.

“This is our time to play women soccer, but that does not mean that we are coming for a beating. We are coming for a win,” Namubiru said.

The chairman organizing committee of the league Michael Kakande promised a well organised league that will attract more teams next season.

This year’s league has attracted five universities including UCU, Nkumba, IUIU, Makerere and Kampala University.

“We have started a new chapter in women football. We are staring with five teams but we believe more teams will join us next year, “noted Kakande.

The top two teams at end of the season will face off in the final that will be on the same day with the men’s final in November at Namboole.
