Yassin fly Uganda flag high in Safari rally

Yasin Nasser navigated by Ali Katumba in a Subaru GVB was the only Uganda driver that among the four foreign drivers that finished Safari rally Kenya in the top nine position.
Nasser was ninth overall in the three-day World rally championship (WRC) candidate event won by Baldev Chager followed by Carl Tundo and Manvir Baryan in third position all from Kenya.
The event was characterised by neck to neck speed in the rough short stages and it called for patience from drivers like Nasser to be able to finish the event.
Uganda had a representation of seven crews including Ronald Ssebuguzi/ Leon Ssenyange, Duncan Mubiru/ Musa Nsubuga, Christakis Fitidis/ Eric Nzamwita, Abdul Kateete/ Rahma Muhamad, Kephar Walubi/ Anthony Mugambwa and Dr. Godfrey Nsereko.
Duncan Mubiru and Christakis Fitidis managed to finish thirteenth and twenty sixth respectively, while the rest dropped out of the event.
The other foreign drives included; Leroy Gomes, Jassy Singh (Zambia) and Giancarlo Davite (Rwanda).
Nasser said that performance was a boost to him a head of the pearl of Africa Uganda rally next month (August 2-4) in Kayunga
“I’m much excited. The result shows that our preparation for the event paid off and we can push for better results in the Pearl of Africa rally,” the MOIL ambassador said.
