Pearl of Africa Uganda rally

After the Kenya safari rally in Kenya, drivers have turned their focus on the Pearl of Africa Uganda rally in August 2019.

Rally drivers including the Shell sponsored team are targeting the continental event, but Yasin Naser might be the man to beat in the Shell V-Power sponsored event due August 2-4 in Busiika Luwero and Kayunga districts.

Sponsored by MOIL, Yasin finished ninth overall in the Kenya Safari Rally and has got experience going by his performance in the World Rally Championship candidate event in Nairobi and Naivasha said that he should post better results than that.

“I’m confident Yasin is the boy to watch because finishing safari rally is not easy. Since he got that car he has been improving event by event and in this pearl rally people should watch out,” Eddie kiwanuka a rally fan noted.

The Pearl of Africa rally will be the fifth round of the Africa Rally championship and will attract top drivers from continent.

The three-day rally start with scrutineering at Shell Bugolobi, on Thursday August1, then head to Busiika for the super special stage on Friday before the final day in Kayunga.

In Kayunga the drivers will battle it out in eight stages totaling to 206kms.

The stages will include Kitwe (19.9kms), Shekhar Mehta (22.35kms), Lwasa (24.8km) and Adel Stage (29.13kms).

The four stages will be repeated and the rally is expected to end at 6pm.

Twelve drivers including 2008 national rally champion Dr. Ashraf Ahmed, shell crews of Ronald Ssebuguzi, Arthur Blick Jr, Omar Mayanja, Umar Kakyama and defending champion Manvir Baryan have confirmed their participation.
