Lt. General Muhoozi Kainerugaba on Tuesday flagged off the
National Motocross team for the FIM Africa motocross championship in Zimbabwe on
Saturday and Sunday urging them to represent their country effectively.
“I’m very proud of you young men and women that are
representing your nations. That is patriotism and I salute you for that. Go and
make Uganda proud,” Muhoozi said.
He also handed over sh20m contribution from General Salim Saleh to
the team at a function held at Imperial Botanical beach Entebbe.
The first group of the team leaves on Wednesday August 28,2019 to
Zimbabwe while the second group leave on Thursday via Ethiopia airlines.
Team captain Maxime van Pee promised that his team will do all it
can to get a podium finish for Uganda.
The team of 37 riders will use the Zimbabwe championship to
prepare for the Armed Forces Appreciation motocross championship in Busiika on
Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces has taken part in the of the East
African Community Military Games and Cultural Event 2019 at MOI International
Sports Center (MISC) Kasarani in Nairobi Kenya.
The event will run from August 11-24,2019 under the theme “One People,
one Destiny” with six Countries that form the East African Community (EAC),
Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.
The Uganda Contingent, code named “Mission Uganda” which was flagged
off on the 10th August is comprised of different teams of Football, team, net
ball, Volley ball, basketball and the umpires.
The contingent, under the command of Col John Mark Ssemanda who is also
the Director of Sports in UPDF, emerged third in the same games and cultural
event last year in Burundi.

time since 2007.
He urged EAC member states to emulate the EA Defence forces and fast track
the regional integration in other sectors if East Africa is to realize
tremendous unity, peace and Development.
“EAC Military event will cement and foster the solidarity through
the sports and cultural participation which will improve on the health, Skills
and unity of the militants”, said General Mwathetha.

Sudan Minister of Defence Maj Gen Kuol Manyang Juuk, the South Sudan People’s
Defence Forces Gen Gabriel Dok Riak, the UPDF Joint Chief of Staff Lt General
Joseph Musanyufu, the Kenyan Minister of sports and culture Hon Amina Mohammed attended
the opening ceremony.
New debutants Kyetume FC will host sixteen time league winners SC Villa when the league gets underway on the 29th of August.
This was revealed by the Uganda Premier League Manager Paul Kabaikaramu during a media briefing at Namboole.
The league will see seven stadia host the matches after the club licencing board upheld other stadia due to lack of requirements.
The chief executive officer of the Uganda Premier league, Mr Bernard Bainamani, said that most clubs will regain status of their grounds once approved by the licencing board

Defending champions KCCA FC will open the season as they entertain the purple sharks Wakiso Giants at Lugogo on Saturday 31st August at Lugogo.
Onduparaka, Mbarara City and Kyetume FC are some clubs that await approval from the club licencing board while Namboole, Njeru, Star times Lugogo, Wankulukuku, Kitende, Kabaka Kyabaggu and Luzira were all given green light to host matches.
The 2019/2020 Uganda Premier League Season will see over 40 games aired live on TV.

Road safety campaign.
The Campaign that start on August
17,with activities including painting of the causality ward in Mulago hospital,
visiting the accident victims in Mulago and Kawolo hospital will climax on
august 24,2019 with painting of the Zebra crossing in Lugazi and cycling

activity a nationwide program so that we save the people from all corners of

USPA road safety campaign is in
memory of the fallen sports journalists Peter Simon Ekarot, Francis Batte
Junior, Kenneth Matovu and Leo Kabunga who perished in road accident on August
21, 2001 in Lugazi.
“We are committed to a continued
partnership with Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) to sensitize the public
about road safety,” Muwanga added.
He also urged Ugandans to respect
traffic regulations and other road users to reduce on the road accidents that
are crippling and claiming the lives of many people in the country.
The USPA road safety campaign is
