The Betway Kobs, will have to qualify for the quarter finals of the Edward Kitaka Memorial 7s circuit to emerge the 2019 Roke 7s National Rugby Circuit Champions.
This after Kobs beating their rivals and defending champions The Stanbic Black Pirate 28-19 in the final of the Jinja 7s Circuit on Saturday august 10 at DamWaterz Grounds, Jinja.
It was an action packed full day, at the DamWaterz Rugby Grounds, Jinja despite, the heavy rains on Saturday.
Kobs,126points are six points ahead of the Pirates (120) with a circuit to go.
Kobs skipper Joseph Aredo attributed the victory to team work and said they will continue working hard as they prepare for the National Premiership league that is due November.
“We do respect Pirates as a team and individual players, but this time we really wanted it. Since the circuits before were really tough outings,” Aredo said.
The Pirates came into Jinja circuit with two wins and much pressure to level three with Kobs but could not manage.
Pirates coach Bob Musinguzi said,” We had all the opportunities to win the game, but we gave it away ourselves. “
“We are going to work hard, correct our mistakes and come back for the Kitaka memorial 7s.
The series is co-sponsored by Guinness and Pepsi, as winners of the circuit received sh500000 in prize money.
