Uganda put up a spirited fight on away turf to finish third overall in the FIM Motocross of Africa Nations Championship won by South Africa in Zimbabwe on Sunday september1, 2019.
Uganda collected 397 points, 130 less Zimbabwe (527) who finished second as winners South Africa tallied 910 points..
Uganda had podium finishes in the 50 CC, 65 CC, 85 CC and 125 CC classes respectively, but also managed fourth and fifth positions in the MX1 and Vets classes respectively.
Youngsters Gift Sebuguzi, Alon Orland, Stav Orland and veteran Asaf Nathan were some of the best performers from team Uganda in the three-day event.
Zambia was fourth, Botswana fifth while Kenya came sixth and debutants Morocco settled for seventh position.
The race was at the Donnybrook racing park in Harare and Joseph Mwangala, the FMU General Secretary, was the jury president of the event.
