The last time a South African representative side played at the Safari Sevens, they ended up on the winners podium.
That was seven years ago when their Elite Player Development squad defeated Kenya’s Morans 21-17 in the final at the Nyayo National stadium.

That particular squad was coached by current Blitzbok Head Coach Neil Powell and featured Justin Geduld and Werner Kok who have since gone on to become regulars on the World Sevens Series with the Blitzboks.

Prior to that, their predecessors -the Emerging Boks had appeared in seven cup finals at the tournament between 2003 and 2010, registering back to back wins in 2006 and 2007.
Nairobi will definitely be looking forward to an electric performance from the 2017/18 World Series champions as they face the two- time Africa champions Uganda and hosts Kenya in october 19-20.
