By Barbra Namanyi

Nile Breweries today Thursday November 28, 2019 under their new brand Nile Special Stout, has injected sh670m to Uganda Rugby Union (URU)  in a one year sponsorship deal.

Of the sh670m, URU will get sh260m in cash an increment of sh110 from last year’s package of sh150m.

The prize money has also been increased from sh22m last season to sh40.5m this season and sh8m as a fund created for the Special categories prizes which include most disciplined team, best managed team and others.

Sh42m will be injected in the second tier of the league (championship) which is the regional development while sh70m will be administration of the league including referees.

URU president Godwin Kayangwe lauded Nile Special for the continued support and urged clubs to take advantage of the partnership.

“Our partner is committed to supporting rugby and as a union and club we must be organised show reason for increase in the funding,” Kayangwe said.

“We shall rate the performance of each club to determine the share clubs receive on the sh100m package for the Clubs,” Kayangwe explained.

Nile Breweries Brand Manager Francis Nyende assured URU of his companies support and urged the union to spread the sport country wide.
