After failing to face-off, with the Egyptian challenger for the World Boxing Federation (WBF) Africa heavy weight title this year, Shafik Kiwanuka may face an American opponent in his next fight.
His Manager Emmanuel Mwesigwa disclosed this to USPA Media saying that the Egyptian opponent they had lined up for Kiwanuka could not make it because of the Corona Virus pandemic lockdown.
“Egypt has too many victims of COVID-19, so we could not risk him to come here to face our fighter besides the lockdown. So, we have requested the world body to get us a challenger and will be most probably from USA,” Mwesigwa
With a record of two knock-outs within two rounds, Kiwanuka stretched full distance for the first time in his professional career by Zimbabwe’s Thamsanq Dube in his last fight at International University of East Africa (IUEA) Auditorium in Kasanga a Kampala suburb in November 2019.
When contacted Kiwanuka he said,” It is my manager to decide who falls first in the jaws of killing Machine, but for I’m ready for any opponent.”
He however, urged Ugandan corporates to support him to be able to continue lifting the Uganda flag high.
