The National Basketball governing body (FUBA) has cancelled the 2020 season because of the Coronavirus pandemic that has had negative effects on all sectors of the economy.
The FUBA executive meeting held on Thursday July 23,2020 at the federation offices in Kampala took the unanimous decision to call off the calendar activities except the Afro basketball qualifiers.
“We have decided to call off the season because there is no time to organise these activities,” FUBA president Nasser Sserunjogi said in his communication to the clubs.
He also added that the executive will use this remaining time to draw a road map and plans for the 2021 basketball season.
The roadmap will be completed and communicated to member clubs not later than August 31, 2020.
He also added that all issues of pertaining players’ contracts shall be addressed as per the contract laws of the country.
Sserunjogi explained that those players who do not have any contract with the clubs shall be managed under the default contract as per the rules and regulations of FUBA which binds them to the club for two years effective 2021.
