The volleyball received sad news today Friday July 31st ,2020 that the 24th edition of the NSSF KAVC International Volleyball Tournament has been called off.
The annual event that attracts top clubs from the East African Region, was called off by the organisers, Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) due to the COVID-18 lockdown.
“We are committed to building this tournament into a continental event, but we front the safety of our stakeholders. And because of COVID-19 Pandemic we have called off the tournament scheduled to take place on July31-August 2, 2020,” KAVC president Milly Kure announced.
She added that the planning committee will continue laying strategies that will enable it to organise a bigger and better event next year July 30 -August 1.
Kenya’s Home-Grown Club and Uganda’s Nkumba University side KCB Nkumba are defending champions in the Men and women categories respectively.
In the lady’s category Nkumba whipped Ndejje 3-0 with 25-10, 25-18, 25-17 sets in the final the in an all Ugandan affair while Kenya’s Homegrown smashed Gacosmos from Burundi 3-0 with 25-19, 25-15, 25-11 sets in the final. This year’s event was to mark 50 years celebrations for KAVC since its formation in 1970
