Uganda sports press Association (USPA) head of women affairs Lydia Nakiguli has joined the race for Buikwe district woman Member of Parliament 2021-2026 on the independent ticket.
She faces Daina Mutasingwa and Immaculate Kabaale in the race that is likely to attract many independent candidates who intend to replace incumbent Judith Babirye who is out of the race.
The sports journalist told USPA media that if elected would focus on Advocacy and Promotion of Health especially maternal health care that is wanted in the district, education especially for the girl child and unprivileged children.
“I will also lobby the concerned so that our infrastructure especially the roads are worked on, recreational centres be built to cater for the youths and create jobs for them on top of agriculture projects both on large- and small-scale levels for our communities,” Nakiguli stated.
Nakiguli also added she intends to fight the land grabbers to be able to protect the play grounds which are used by the youth.
“We must have several youth centres with sports facilities and well-equipped libraries in the districts so that we empower the youth because they are the future of this country,” She noted.
